The Forex Market If Not Now When?
The Forex Market If Not Now When?
Forex, FX and the Forex market are some common abbreviations for the Foreign Exchange market. Actually it is the largest financial market in the world, where money is sold and bought freely. In its present condition the Forex market was launched in the seventies, when free exchange rates were introduced, and only the participants of the market determine the price of one currency against the other proceeding from demand and supply. As far as the freedom from any external control and free competition are concerned, the Forex market is a perfect market.
With a daily turnover of over trillions of dollars, the Foreign Exchange market conducts more than three times the aggregate amount volume of the United States Equity and Treasury markets combined. The Forex market is an over-the-counter market where buyers and sellers conduct foreign exchange business using different means of communication.
Unlike other financial markets, the Forex market has no physical location or central exchange. Since the Forex market lacks a physical exchange, the market trades continuously on a 24-hour basis, moving from one time zone to the next, across each of the world’s major financial centers every day. Trillions of dollars of foreign exchange activity takes place every day. From 1997 to the end of 2000, daily forex trading volume surged approximately from US billion to US.5 trillion and more (according to various recent studies it has touched .7 trillion per day and dwarfs all other markets for trading in size and volume). It is really difficult, if not impossible; to determine an absolutely exact number because trading is not centralized on an exchange. But one thing is for sure that the Forex market continues to grow at a phenomenal rate.
Before the advent of Internet and ecommerce, only big corporations, multinational banks and wealthy individuals could trade currencies in the Forex market through the use of the proprietary trading systems of banks. These systems required as much as US million to open an account. Thanks to advancements in online technology, today investors with only a few thousand dollars can have access to the Forex market 24 hours a day and around 5 ½ days of a week.
The Forex market is a nonstop cash market where currencies of nations are traded, typically via brokers called forex brokers. Foreign currencies are constantly and simultaneously bought and sold across local and global markets while traders increase or decrease value of an investment upon currency movements. Foreign exchange market conditions can change at any time in response to real-time events so it is also considered to be a highly volatile and fragile market too. Conditions of the Forex market never remain the same they changes every second.
The foreign exchange market dwarfs the combined operations of the New York, London, and Tokyo futures and stock exchanges. According to its size and scope it is many times larger than all other markets. Stats shows that spot transactions and forward outright Forex trading take place in the inter-bank market. 51% of the market is in spot Forex transactions, followed by 32% in currency swap transactions. Forward outright Forex transactions represent another 5% of this daily turnover, with options on ‘interbank’ Forex transactions making up another 8%. Therefore the inter-bank market accounts for 96% of the global foreign exchange market, with the remaining 4% being divided among all the global futures exchanges.
For traders, Forex trading provides an alternative to stock market trading. While there are thousands of stocks to choose from, there are only a few major currencies to trade (the Dollar, Yen, British Pound, Swiss Franc, and the Euro are the most popular). Forex trading also provides a lot more leverage than stock trading, and the minimum investment to get started is a lot lower. Add to that the ability to choose flexible trading hours (forex trading goes on 24 hours a day) and you have the reason why so many stock traders have flocked to day trade currencies.

Closing the Sale is the Tipping Point
Closing the Sale is the Tipping Point
Thank you author Malcolm Gladwell, for your exciting, revolutionary, perceptive and timely book, “The Tipping Point.” His identification and description of the process that defines so many procedures in society has almost become generic, commonly used, a household term, repeated frequently everywhere. Although Gladwell did not publish this unique book as a selling manual, “The Tipping Point” is a legitimate phrase, quite accurately utilized in describing part of the selling process.
Think about each of the items that comprise the selling process: Prospecting, identification, research, questioning, presentation, handling objections and closing. Each part of the process is necessary for the success of the next. Each component is critical to the sales process yet all are useless unless an attempt to close the sale is made. If you have read this ground-breaking and popular book, you will easily identify the closing component as the aspect of the selling process known as the “Tipping Point,” the point at which all of your efforts before it suddenly yield a mutually satisfying conclusion. In this case, the sale is made!
As a salesperson, whether a professional or not, do not allow the stigma so often associated with closing sales to stop you cold. You will know when you achieve the rank of “professional” when you deeply understand this simple proclamation: Too many salespeople succumb to the complexity and awe associated with the “science of closing.” Learn to think of the close as simply the “Tipping Point” in the selling process. Perhaps this idea will remove some of the pressure so many salespeople experience while considering closing.
Remember that selling is actually the process of simply helping your prospect to buy. The job of the salesperson is to help clarify their need and expertly offer a product or service that meets or exceeds that uncovered need. Since many people do not like to make decisions, your job is simply to help them decide that by purchasing from you, their needs are met in a most satisfying manner. They must clearly see that the value they get from your product or service far exceeds the money that they will spend in acquiring it. At this point, the “Tipping Point” occurs and everyone gets what they want.
Professional salespeople know that that they add unique, considerable value to their products and services eventually bound for the prospective customer. They understand that “The Tipping Pont” is the point of decision in every sale where everyone wins! This is the critical point of understanding that builds their income.
Remember, closing is simply “asking for the order,” nothing more. Do not be intimidated by the very thought of closing. Closing the sale is simply a logical step in the natural progression of the sales process. It is the “Tipping Point,” where you realize the full return on your selling efforts. Go get ‘em!

Leadership and Management Training – What are the Benefits of Work-Based Management Qualifications in an Organisation
Leadership and Management Training – What are the Benefits of Work-Based Management Qualifications in an Organisation
The expense of future University places will mean many will look for alternates to the 3 years of full time study. Work Based learning which delivers formal University Qualifications is being piloted by some Universities within England as an alternative. The concept is to combine the rigours of academia with the delivery approaches of private leadership & management training consultants and learn whilst still in full time employment.
The results this far are proving very encouraging for both the organisation and individuals.
Individuals are required to apply the learning from the training days into their workplace so it is an integral part of their job. This can take the form of building a work based portfolio or delivering a project linked to the learning and providing an executive summary report of their project for assessment e.g Delegation project – Individuals are required to delegate a task, plan how to do this, implement the plan and review and learn from the activity
As with many Management Training Programmes, organisations often fail to see a Return on Investment as many are one off days that have no follow up or evaluation. The benefit of work based Management Qualifications are many and provide real return on investment (ROI) for both the organisation and the individual:
The organisation gains from improved results in the workplace which transforms to bottom line performance; and currently obtains funding support for all English based organisations.
The individual has to apply the academic research into how best to deliver their projects, improve the delivery of change through improved personal performance and achieves University Qualifications
Increases motivation amongst the work force as the individual gains University Qualifications
Identifies star performers – result grades are just one factor to consider, but those that gain excellent results are often the “hidden gems” in an organisation and take their development very seriously
Management Training Programmes are designed specifically for the needs of the client, with the Accreditation fitting into the programme, and not the other way around!
The important factor to the success of Management Qualifications in the work place is putting the primary focus on the needs of the organisation. By doing this, the organisation gets the results they need. This is proving to be a very effective way of Management Training and Leadership Development, and is popular with both the individuals and organisations in the UK and Internationally.
Peter Sturrock is a firm believer that the combination of Accredited Management Qualifications with Training Programmes delivered by experienced private sector management consultants is a highly productive method of delivering Leadership Development Training for the organisation and individual
